Конечно, нужно уметь справляться с каждой из этих сложностей. Сейчас, однако, мы поговорим только о последней. Чтобы правильно отвечать на вопросы, следует хорошо понимать их структуру и знать, по какому принципу выбирать верный ответ.

Вот пример типичного текста из секции Reading:

Pluto's demotion from the ninth planet of the solar system to a mere dwarf planet came at a convention of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 2006. Improvements in observational technology and consequent increases in our knowledge of conditions at the outer edge of the solar system had presented the IAU with a difficult problem. Scores of celestial bodies similar to Pluto, and even one that is larger than Pluto, had been discovered. This eroded the rationale for saying that there were nine planets in the system. If Pluto was a planet, shouldn't the 40-some similar objects be called planets as well?The IAU really had only two choices: (1) expand the number of planets to more than 50, or (2) reduce it to 8. They chose the latter course.

They did this by instituting an official definition of the term planet, a definition that was long overdue and that should help resolve future disputes about a body's status. To their credit, the IAU kept it simple and phrased the definition so even non-astronomers can understand it. To be a planet, an object must possess all three of the following characteristics. First, it must orbit the Sun. Secondly, it must have enough mass to have pulled itself into a spherical shape. Finally, its gravity must have cleared its neighborhood in space of random rocks and ice, so that the only nearby objects are moons of the planet.

he first two criteria in this definition apply not only to Pluto but to countless other objects as well. Even asteroids and comets orbit the sun.

All the moons in the solar system, as well as many asteroidlike bodies beyond Neptune, meet the second test. It is on the third count that Pluto fails. Its area of space, called the Kuiper Belt, is full of rocks floating freely by. Pluto is not even massive enough to have a moon. A spherical body near Pluto, Charon, was once considered its moon, but recent observations have shown this not to be true. Although smaller than the former planet, Charon does not orbit Pluto. Instead, both Charon and Pluto (and two smaller objects know as Nix and Hydra) orbit around a point in space between them.

Помните, вы можете (и должны) возвращаться к тексту чтобы ответить на вопрос. Часто вопросы о фактах деталях отсылают вас к определенному параграфу. Даже те вопросы, у которых нет указания according to paragraph (1, 2, 3, etc) относятся к определенному месту в тексте. Вопрос номер 1, например, спрашивает о Kuiper Belt - просмотрите текс, чтобы найти это словосочетание. Потом протестируйте каждый из четырех вариантов ответа на соответствие с предложением/группой предложений в части текста, где упоминается Kuiper Belt. .

Очень важно выбрать именно тот вариант, который не просто соответствует тексту, я является ответом на поставленный вопрос. Создатели теста специально включают варианты, которые соответствуют фактам в тексте, но не отвечают на наш вопрос. Рассмотрим следующий пример:

Правильным  ответом является вариант b. Тот факт, что Шэрон не вращается вокруг Плутона доказывает, что Плутон не доминирует среди окружающих его небесных тел и не может быть признан планетой. Заметьте - а, с, и d все я являются верными заявлениями. Правильный ответ должен быть больше, чем просто верный факт. В данном случае он должен четко объяснять, каким образом Шэрон определят, является Плутон планетой или нет.
